Transaction Director Eastern Europe (m/f/d)
Eastern Europe is one of EOS most important growth engines and a key contributor to the Group’s success. As a leading investor in non-performing loans, we are looking for a senior executive to lead the next phase of growth across the region.
Reporting directly to the EOS Board, you will set the investment agenda for Eastern Europe, allocate capital and drive performance across secured and unsecured NPL portfolios. Combining entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive outcomes, you will originate and lead the region’s most significant transactions, build strategic partnerships and actively steer portfolio performance to deliver strong returns and sustainable growth.
This is the job:
- Own investments end to end: Originate secured and unsecured NPL investment opportunities across Eastern Europe in close collaboration with local country teams. Lead large-scale transactions by steering the entire deal lifecycle from sourcing to closing.
- Deliver the return, not just the deal: Retain overall ownership of investment outcomes post-closing. Oversee workout and portfolio management activities, challenge results against underwriting assumptions, and steer the teams responsible for execution to achieve targeted returns.
- Build co-investments that scale: Shape, establish and steer co-investment partnerships, mobilizing capital and creating additional capacity for growth across the region.
- Lead the negotiation table: Lead LSPA negotiations and complex multi-party processes, representing EOS in dealings with banks, vendors, partners and advisors across jurisdictions.
- Shape market positioning: Build and maintain a senior-level network across banks, financial institutions and partners. Strengthen EOS' positioning as a leading investor in Eastern Europe and proactively identify strategic opportunities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board: Translate investments into decision-ready insights. Provide strategic recommendations, ensure transparency on portfolio performance, and actively shape the investment agenda.
This is what you bring to the table:
- Senior track record: Extensive experience (6+ years) in NPL investments, distressed debt, real estate finance, investment banking or related fields, with a proven history of leading transactions and managing portfolios independently.
- Education: An excellent academic record with a degree in Finance, Economics, Law or Business Administration; an MBA or equivalent from a leading international business school is a strong plus.
- Strategic asset-class expertise: Deep understanding of secured and unsecured NPL portfolios, real estate workouts, distressed debt, and VC investments - with the ability to translate this into investment strategy and implementation.
- Regional expertise: Familiarity with Eastern European markets (particularly in Poland, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Greece) with the ability to navigate diverse legal frameworks, debt dynamics and investment landscape; cross-country experience in the region is a strong plus.
- Executive negotiation: Highly experienced in leading complex negotiations and structuring co-investments, acting as the senior decision-maker in critical situations.
- Cross-functional leadership: Ability to steer performance across countries and functions without direct line ownership, aligning diverse stakeholders and ensuring delivery.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: Strong entrepreneurial drive and ownership mentality, complemented by analytical thinking enabling sound, fact-based decision-making in complex situations.
- Languages: Fluent in English; German and/or Eastern European languages are an advantage.
